Medium size twill weave 100% Tamserku pashmina shawl with tassel fringe in Macaw Green

Above: Tamserku is usually spelled "Tramserku" or "Thamserku" to more closely reflect the Tibetan spelling, but our spelling is actually closer to the usual non-native pronunciation. At 6,608 meters (21,680 feet), this mountain is not in the top rank by altitude, but it is more beautiful than any of the 8000-meter giants, and when you see its shimmering forked peak towering over Namche Bazaar, you will understand why we chose it to represent our double-weave twill. Absolutely mesmerizing!

Tamserku twill weave shawls are quite different from our Sagarmatha basic weave wrap.

What we refer to as basic weave is a square criss-cross, over-under-over-under. Twill weave, on the other hand, is an offset criss-cross: over two threads, under two, over two, under two, but each horizontal (weft) line moves sideways by one vertical thread (warp) so that the two warp over-threads on one weft line are not directly above both under-threads of the lower weft line; the offset produces a diagonally ridged effect.

Our Tamserku twill weave is a double-weight fabric: each thread element is actually doubled (two threads side-by-side), each of which has two plies. The plies are separate threads twisted together.

The total effect of Tamserku's double-weight pure pashmina twill weave is a very plush, surprisingly warm fabric.

Our current stock of Tamserku shawls are what we call medium size: 70 cm x 203 cm (that is, 28" x 80" or 2.3 feet by 6.7 feet).

Most of our Tamserkus have tasseled fringes. There is no universal standard for these twisted and knotted strands; generally they are 2 to 4 inches (5 to 10 cm). We also have a couple of shawl colors with ragged fringe (also called eyelash or natural).

Review posted by JM on TrustPilot:

Gorgeousness!! I’ve purchased several shawls from Sunrise Pashmina. All have been gorgeous and the quality is excellent. I got hooked on shawls during a trip to India and finding a source for them in the US was a struggle until I found Sunrise. The customer service is top notch and Seth is a pleasure to work with if you need help or have questions. I highly recommend them!
